HRH Prince Rashid bin El Hassan

His Royal Highness Prince Rashid El Hassan was born in Amman on 20th May, 1979, the youngest child and only son of Prince Hassan and Princess Sarvath. After his primary education at the Amman Baccalaureate School, HRH completed his secondary education at Harrow School in the United Kingdom. Prince Rashid holds a B.A (Hons.) degree in Oriental Studies from Cambridge University. HRH is bilingual in Arabic and English, and has a working knowledge of German.

HRH completed a Short Service Commissioning Course at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst after which he was commissioned into the Jordanian Army. HRH was seconded to the British Army, from 1997 – 1998. HRH graduated from the NATO Defense College Senior Couse in 2013 and is currently a Lieutenant Colonel commanding The Gendarmerie Special Police Group that provides tactical and special operations support to the Jordanian Police and Security Services in addition to providing dignitary protection to senior Jordan and visiting officials.

Prince Rashid was appointed Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Hashemite Charitable Organisation in October 2002. The HCO is the umbrella organization for the Jordanian Military, Government and NGO crisis management relief operations. In addition to this, the HCO manages aid to charitable organisations and refugee camps in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. In this capacity, the HCO has deployed worldwide to provide aid and disaster relief and is currently overseeing entry and distribution of aid to international organisations and charities working in Jordan while coordinating Jordanian humanitarian response to Gaza.

Prince Rashid is married to Princess Zeina Rashid who holds both graduate and post graduate degrees from London University, and has represented Jordan in two Olympic Games. They have two children, Prince El Hassan bin Rashid, born in December 2013 and Prince Talal bin Rashid, born in February 2016. Prince Rashid is Head of the Jordanian Taekwondo Federation and Captain of the National Polo team.
